How was your Labor Day?

We began our Labor Day to set out and visit with our family in Rocklin.

The plans were made the time was set for a barbecue with swimming and enjoying time together. So we got into the car and called to let family know we were on our way.

We new that there was a little illness coming on, but we were excited to be invited to visit. When we connected with family we realized that other events had taken over.

A visit to Urgent Care!

Really!

So we were asked to not come just yet.

Off to the hardware store we went, with phone in hand and the thought that we would receive a call if things changed. Well we all know how cell phones work, kind of like children they perform when they wish, not when needed ;.)

Returning to the car we checked our phones and realized we had received a call that Urgent Care had turned into ER care. Well, we were close to the freeway and off we went.

Now, mind you this was a day trip, before we had left the house I decided that I would bring another outfit to ride home in, knowing that during the day it would be hot. By evening it would bring much cooler weather for the ride home. So with bathing suits and towels in tow we were off to Rocklin.

This Labor Day was a labor of great love and concern. We began the modern day of communication with family, texting to the rest of the family, while riding up to the ER. With cell phones ringing with a text to three and responding text one by one from each of them we were busy with communicating.

The drive was uneventful thank goodness, since the traffic coming towards us was awful, backed up for miles. We were saying how thankful we were not to be in that direction, and wondering how the direction would be for us that evening home.

Well, when we arrived we gathered our Zachary from dad and visited with our ER girl, in good spirits and just waiting to learn what was going on. We took Zachary home to meet up with Mallory and played and enjoyed our visit while texting with dad and mom on how she was feeling in the ER.

We could still fire up the barbecue, but Mallory wished that we take them to Old McDonalds to play on the play structure. Really, your mom takes you to Old McDonalds? Yes, it is right next to Chuckie Cheese. I could not believe that Old McDonalds was a family gathering place. Next I was asked if I promised I would make the trip to Old McDonalds. I said I did not know where it was. Well, we suggested Chipotle, but no Old McDonalds was the place of interest. So we ventured out and would you believe the car took us right to Old McDonalds! There it is that is where we go. So we parked the car and went inside. This should have been the clue when we asked what they wanted to eat it was the play structure that was of interest. We ordered and I thought well a salad could not be bad. I wish that I had taken pictures since that is what many of you do when you are sharing on your blog, of what your food looks like. It looked good, the flavor was not as good. The play structure was fun for all in attendance ;.)

From there we returned to learn that surgery was post hast, that mom was bleeding inside and was not doing well. So texting went out again to all of what was going on.

We took the grandbabies home and got everyone ready for bed. Finally we received the text that there were complications and another surgery would need to be done tomorrow as well. What could possible be going on. We were asked many times where is mom, she is at the doctors. What a long visit to say the least.

With prayers said and babies tucked into bed we too realized that we had no toothbrushes or change of clothes for the next day.

Four:thirty a.m. came and feedings began for the baby, it took and hour to settle him down since this was a nursing one. Then morning came and we waited for more news of the next surgery to begin. Then we learned that a second surgery was not going to happen, that all of the surgery was completed the night before.

We decided that I would stay and Steve would return home to go to work and keep the home front in tack.

Texting continued again for the journey home and checking with the hospital to see how mom and dad were doing. Mom was sleeping deeply and her blood was having challenges mixing with the transfusions given for the great amount that was lost the day before.

The melt downs began of when is mommy coming home, I want to go to your house today and jump on your trampoline. Dad finally came home and the wait for the doctor to check on mom was a long wait this new day.

More texting and prayers were going out, e-mails sent that I would not be to work for the week and possibly the next as well. Which by the way was 250 texts and now trying to transcribe them.

We are very thankful to modern medicine and the talent of nurses and especially doctors. What wonderful care and love shown for this challenging Labor Day.

He is always watching over us and we must never forget the love and care that is given to each and everyone on this earth. With all of the many things going on he does not mix us up and he never forgets us.
